About Coach Mark

With over 20 years of experience as a competitive tennis player and a separate day job, Coach Mark simply wants to pass on his knowledge and love for the game. Sign up for your FREE first lesson today!

Coach Mark, or his alter ego "Dr. Mark", has a regular day job as a veterinarian, hence the discounted rates! He does not give tennis lessons for the money, but rather doesn't believe that only those who can afford $90 tennis lessons should have access to the tips and tricks to get to the next level.

Coach Mark has been playing tennis competitively for the past 20 years. He started as a kid at the local tennis club, and continued to play all throughout high school, college, and graduate school. He has had several coaches of his own over the years, but the most formative was during high school when he trained with Young Min Kwon, a former ATP 380 ranked player in the world.

During his college career Coach Mark decided to focus on his studies and getting in to vet school, and so elected to play on the competitive club team at the University of Richmond, rather than dedicate the time to a varsity program. Still, he continued to play with both club and varsity players throughout college and graduate school, and is always looking for new and exciting ways to challenge himself and grow his game.

Coach Mark's coaching experience includes all ages and skill levels ranging from 8-75 years old (yes, his grandmother played in to her 70's!) and from beginner to advanced. He has helped train nationally ranked USTA teams, boys and girls high school teams, as well as individuals.

Coach Mark is not a certified tennis coach (you don't need to be!), but rather just enjoys teaching and passing on his knowledge and love for the game. Hence his discounted rates! Simply to cover the cost of gas, balls, and things like this website.
